Divine Design

"And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ..." Ephesians 4:11-13

We hold strongly to Paul's teaching in Ephesians 4:11-13 where he describes the role of the pastor to the church. The pastoral staff equips the church for the work of ministry. The result of this, Paul says, is maturity and unity in Christ. The Journey Church is committed to creating a model that follows the Biblical text, equipping our members to serve both within the community of believers and among the community which surrounds us.

As you feel led to call The Journey your church home, service will inevitably become a part of your life's worship. Our church body acknowledges that everything we are, and everything we possess, is a gift from God. That is why our musicians, our set up crew, our children's ministry assistants, and people serving in all areas, donate talents and time; likewise, we give joyfully and sacrificially of our first-fruits as Scripture instructs. Weekend worship is not just a time of observation and experience, but of experiential participation. The greeters at the door, the sound techs, the pastor…all are used by God to speak into people's lives, to be a living sermon verbal or unspoken.

We are all created by God with unique personalities, talents, and passions. When we come to faith in Christ we are also given spiritual gifts and yet many of us do not know what those gifts are or how we're supposed to use them. Instead of referring you to a single test and leaving you to apply what you learn, we at The Journey want to walk you through how God has created and called you and then how to serve out of your divine design in order to glorify God and bless the body.

Pray and consider where you might best serve your brothers and sisters in Christ. Church happens 24/7; lend your help and skills during the week, as well as on Sundays. We welcome you to join us in these ministries and look forward to serving with you.

Transformed not Conformed//Adam Sheffield

Daniel is used by God to carry his message, God gives him wisdom and shows him favor, gives him the meanings of dreams, foretells of coming kingdoms and the end times through him, saves him from the mouths of vicious lions because of his faith, and speaks to the hearts of two different kings ruling over two of the greatest empires. And this was all while being held as a captive in a foreign land and knowing that while serving the king, he could be put to death at any moment for any reason. Why did God choose to use Daniel and allow him to go through so much?... more...

Mercy//Heather Barrett

As we learned a few weeks ago, God’s mercy should dominate our lives. We are all sinners, saved not by our own works, but by God’s amazing mercy (Titus 3:5). While still dead in our sins, the Lord not only withheld our punishment, He sent His only Son to take our place! Jesus died the death we should have... more...

Consider The Cost//Chris Mayfield

Have you ever wanted to build something from scratch, but stopped after drawing out the building plans? Ever say, “I am going to work out every single day this year,” and shot out like a cannon for the first week only to go down like a house of cards? Oh and how about this one, “We are going to be out of debt by the end of the year!” Didn’t work out so well did it? more...
