The City within a City

  • by: Leif Takacs 02/04/10

Coming soon in 2010 The City. It’s a social networking tool for the church…and yet so much more! Don’t worry if you’re like, “Oh, not another social network site!” This one is designed for the church by the church. Here is how it helps us carry out our mission and to connect:

           Loving the Gospel

  • Memory Verses

-great daily memory verses updated and sent via email if you want

  • Daily Bible Readings

-a new reading of the bible daily or sent to your email if you want

          Transforming the Culture

  • Update your status on the city and twitter at the same time.

-being a huge Twitter fan this is exciting to be able to update in just one place

  • Post an update on your face book from The Plaza to invite people to church events.

            -great outreach opportunity.

          Engaging the Church

  • Discussion Topics

-theological or just questions about the church; the topics are endless

  • Church home page/community group page/service page

-there is a home page for the church, a page for your community group, as well as

a page for your specific service ministry

I am very excited to see the launch of The City. It gives a much broader expansion to community, where you can build friendships and do life together. It has the potential to build deeper ministries and real life relationships outside the church. Also, the city will give us the ability to keep up to date with the latest prayer requests through immediate emails and the notifications for the newest events for church or community group in real time. The tools on The City have so many positive possibilities.

Technology & The Gospel//Luke Emerson

We belong to a VERY accessible and technologically relevant church but not because we want people to get saved, get comfortable and wait for Jesus’ return. We have a VERY accessible and technologically relevant church because we have a message to spread and any obstacle we can remove for people on the outside looking in we will remove. more...

Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
