Journey's Elders

staff pics - ben Ben Daniels- Elder

Ben grew up in Woodinville, WA but also moved around quite a bit.  He knew he loved the pacific northwest and decided to attend college at Seattle Pacific University where he met his wife Carly.  Ben works as a software developer at a small company in Bellevue and when the weather is nice sometimes bikes from the home he shares with Carly and their daughter JulieAnna.  The Daniels family loves to have people over and has been known to pack their condo to standing room only with promises of Ben's homebrew and Carly's famous meals.  They love the fellowship that sharing social activities with your biblical community creates.  Ben and Carly have learned that the things that are important (family, career, marriage, friends) sit on the foundation of Christ.  They view full devotion to Jesus Christ as submitting these "second level" elements of their lives in obedience and seeking that the Holy Spirit would conform them to the image of Christ.  They feel so blessed to have their marriage, family, and lives transformed that they live to encourage, challenge and participate with people to see the same work in their lives.

Mike Purcell- Elder; Pastor of Children and Students

I was born and raised in West Seattle as the youngest of four children. Jesus Christ captured my heart when I was 18 years old and He gave me a desire to serve Him. Shortly thereafter, I sensed a call to pastoral ministry and began to pursue that calling. I studied Biblical Literature at Northwest College in Kirkland, Washington, which is where I met my beautiful wife Geneiveve. We have been married for over six years and are the joy filled parents of our sweet baby girl Elliana. After serving as a youth pastor for three years in Issaquah, we moved to Everett in May of 2008 and the Journey was the first church we visited. After one Sunday we realized we didn't need to look anywhere else. I became part of the staff of Journey Church in October of 2009. I am continually grateful and humbled to be a part of this body of believers and I am amazed that I am able to serve in the role I have been given. I am passionate about teaching God's word and making the gospel known.

Anthony Schulz- Elder; Pastor of Missional Community Groups

Anthony Schulz is a Washington native and grew up in the Woodinville area.  He attended the University of Washington and graduated in 2003.  Faith has always been key in his life, but did not accept Christ as his Savior until he was a freshman in college.  Since that time he has participated and lead numerous bible studies, been a junior high youth worker, a college group ministry leader, the men’s ministry leader at Journey Church and currently the Missional Community Group Pastor at the Journey.  He married his high school sweetheart, Angie, and they have 3 wonderful children.  They enjoy camping, playing baseball, soccer, hiking and running together as a family or better yet having a lazy day together around the house.

I’m head-over-heels for a girl named Jenni. We are married for almost 9 years & herd 3 little Webbs everywhere life allows. Two and-a-half years ago, God brought us to the Puget Sound area for a job with a medical device company where I manage a manufacturing engineering group and help people keep their legs. More than that, I believe God used that job to bring us to Journey Church. I love Jesus. I’m passionate about my Bible. Isaiah 46:9-10 defines my redeemed heart. I love eating new food, foreign languages, singing LOUD to my God and any sport involving a ball.

Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
