Bring Glory By Service

We are approaching an exciting time of the year as Easter is only a few weeks away.  Throughout the year we strive to reach out to our community in order to share the gospel with as many people as possible.  Easter Sunday is a time when people come to us.  At the Journey we work to make the most of this opportunity.  In order to do so we need people to serve enthusiastically.

In his letter to the Colossians the apostle Paul wrote, "Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ."  This passage is a good reminder for us that everything we do, even the seemingly mundane tasks, brings glory to God when we serve him wholeheartedly.  I am amazed that the King of the universe takes delight in us and rewards us as we work for Him!

My prayer for us as His church is that we will have hearts that are overflowing with gratitude to our Savior that lead us to serve, sacrifice, and surrender.  I pray that we will rise to the challenges that we face in the coming weeks whether it be inviting neighbors to church, serving at Eggstravaganza, or serving on Easter Sunday.  Remember you are worshipping Jesus when you sacrificially give of your time, talents, and treasures.  As we truly take joy in serving, the light of Christ will shine brightly through us. Let’s worship Jesus together as we work hard to spread the gospel like a pandemic!

Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
