Opportunities

Dear Journey Church,

We are being given many opportunities! As I was away this past week on vacation God allowed me to sit on the sidelines so to speak, and just watch our church from a distance. What I saw were so many opportunities that we have to impact people with the hope of Jesus Christ.

Many of us just hung out with about 20,000 people over the last two days who live right by us at the Meet Me in Mill Creek Festival. What an opportunity God gave us to not only serve but to build relationships with people who might one day surrender their life to the Gospel.

In the midst of that we had opportunities to show mercy to many families in our church who are going through very difficult things to handle by themselves. God gave us the opportunity to live community, true biblical community.

God now has three more opportunities starting tonight! Three nights that we have called Days in the Park, where parts of our church will go and just hang out with our community intentionally to build bridges to Jesus Christ and is body called the church.

What's crazy is there are tons of opportunities in our church right now. You are an opportunity. Jesus has you, He has given you things to do, and He calls you to do it around other people. This all leads to these opportunities I am talking about. Opportunities to impact this world by the way we live ours. This week look for opportunities to speak the name of Jesus to your culture (family, friends, church body, and the world).

Transformed not Conformed//Adam Sheffield

Daniel is used by God to carry his message, God gives him wisdom and shows him favor, gives him the meanings of dreams, foretells of coming kingdoms and the end times through him, saves him from the mouths of vicious lions because of his faith, and speaks to the hearts of two different kings ruling over two of the greatest empires. And this was all while being held as a captive in a foreign land and knowing that while serving the king, he could be put to death at any moment for any reason. Why did God choose to use Daniel and allow him to go through so much?... more...

Mercy//Heather Barrett

As we learned a few weeks ago, God’s mercy should dominate our lives. We are all sinners, saved not by our own works, but by God’s amazing mercy (Titus 3:5). While still dead in our sins, the Lord not only withheld our punishment, He sent His only Son to take our place! Jesus died the death we should have... more...

Consider The Cost//Chris Mayfield

Have you ever wanted to build something from scratch, but stopped after drawing out the building plans? Ever say, “I am going to work out every single day this year,” and shot out like a cannon for the first week only to go down like a house of cards? Oh and how about this one, “We are going to be out of debt by the end of the year!” Didn’t work out so well did it? more...
