Sanctity of Life Resources Shared on Sunday

Our orphan and vulnerable children ministry known as Passion 117 was born out of a passion for children and a desire to serve them in the name of Christ by fighting for justice and pleading their cause. Scripture commands that we not merely be hearers of the Word, but doers of the Word. I am extremely proud that this church loves children, wants to speak, work, fight for the least of these, for those in need of protection and care. And there are none more vulnerable than those in the womb, yet to be born. Our orphan and vulnerable children ministry includes them.

In response to serveral requests, I wanted to share the link for the video we showed yesterday and the link for the free E-book, Exposing the Dark Work of Abortion. My prayer is that God would enable us to break free of our caloused indifference and call many of us to respond with conviction, passion and diligence to rescue the children being taken away to death.

May the Lord strengthen and lead our efforts.

Passionate about the Sanctity of Life? Get Involved at the Pregnancy Resource Center

Since Roe vs Wade, an estimated 48,589,993 abortions have been performed in the US. An estimated 4,000 abortions occur each day. The Pregnancy Resource Center (PRC) of Snohomish County exists to help women and families facing difficult decisions brought on by an unexpected pregnancy. The PRC offers pregnancy tests, limited ultrasound services, options counseling, resources and referrals, birth and baby education, practical help, and material needs to women, teens and families in need... all at no charge.

Please consider partnering with the PRC. Some ways include:

  • Host a Diaper Drive to help families with the financial burden of diapers.
  • Run a "Change for Life" fundraiser by collect money in PRC-provided baby bottles.
  • Donate new and gently-used clothing and baby items to stock the Maternity and Baby Boutique.
  • Volunteer a few hours each week at the PRC, including assisting with baby care and childbirth classes.
  • Refer women in need, pray and learn how to defend your beliefs of the sanctity of life compassionately through resources like http://www.abort73.com/

Steps To Get Involved

  1. Pray fervently.
  2. Get Informed : Download for free, Exposing the Dark Work of Abortion, at DesiringGod.org and learn to engage the conversations thoughtfully through reading at http://www.aul.org/.
  3. Expose the Truth, for example:
  • 30%of all children conceived in the US are aborted.
  • To expose the fact that viability outside the womb is not a criterion of personhood and right to life, because we ourselves don’t want to give up our personhood and our right to life if we must be sustained on a respirator or dialysis machine the way a baby has to be sustained by a placenta.
  • To expose the fact that the size, location, environment and development of reasoning power of a person is irrelevant to human personhood (SLED argument).
  • To expose the fact that genetically human embryos and fetuses are utterly different from all other animal life; if they left alone, with nothing added but nourishment, they will grow up.
  • To expose the fact that if it is unlawful to crush the egg of a bald eagle, it is not excessively restrictive to make it unlawful to crush the egg of a human.

    4. Be a Catalyst For Change: recruit volunteers; contact your congressman/woman; initiate something new; coordinate efforts with other churches and ministries.

Technology & The Gospel//Luke Emerson

We belong to a VERY accessible and technologically relevant church but not because we want people to get saved, get comfortable and wait for Jesus’ return. Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
