Snowmageddon "church goes on"

Categorized as Christmas

Hey Journey Church and guests! Can you believe all of this snow? It truly is beautiful and calming. And if you are willing to brave the weather we are going to have our 2nd week in our Christmas series called “Not another Plastic Christmas.” This week we will be talking about PEACE; do you have it? We are continuing to challenge ourselves to experience true Advent in looking back at the first coming of Christ and looking forward with confidence and boldness for Christ’s return.

So if you’re willing to brave the weather we will be there and if not we encourage you to gather around the tree and have your own family service. I will even throw in a sample order of worship.

Order of Worship:

Prayer

Singing (Angels We Have Heard On High & How Deep the Fathers Love))

Message (Create your own out of these verses we are using in the service Ephesians 2:14, Luke 2:14, Romans 5:1, Philippians 4:6-10)

Tithes and Offerings (You can mail it in-come one we can’t leave it out)

Closing Prayer

*Songs:

Angels We Have Heard On High

Angels we have heard on high

Sweetly singing o'er the plains

And the mountains in reply

Echoing their joyous strains.

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Gloria, in excelsis Deo!

Shepherds, why this jubilee?

Why your joyous strains prolong?

What the gladsome tidings be

Which inspire your heavenly song? Chorus

Come to Bethlehem and see Him

Whose birth the angels sing;

Come, adore on bended knee,

Christ the Lord, the newborn King. Chorus

See him in a manger laid

Whom the angels praise above;

Mary, Joseph, lend your aid,

While we raise our hearts in love. Chorus

How Deep The Fathers Love

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Technology & The Gospel//Luke Emerson

We belong to a VERY accessible and technologically relevant church but not because we want people to get saved, get comfortable and wait for Jesus’ return. We have a VERY accessible and technologically relevant church because we have a message to spread and any obstacle we can remove for people on the outside looking in we will remove. more...

Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
