"Pandemic" - Acts 1:6-8

We often let our expectations and desires determine or limit where we watch for God to be at work. This puts us in danger of missing where God is really moving because of our self-centeredness. The disciples’ hope of Israel being immediately restored skewed their vision and distracted them from the great work God was about to do. We need to constantly be asking God to replace our plans with His plans which will forever be more glorifying to Him and satisfying for us.

Jesus’ last words to his disciples at his ascension come to pass exactly as he said and are described in great detail in the book of Acts. The apostles began their work teaching and preaching in Jerusalem. By chapter eight we see the teaching of the disciples spreading through the regions of Judea and Samaria. Then by chapter twelve we read that the apostles are going throughout all the world teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus!
