Acts 10:34-48 "Radical Re:Orientation" - FOLLOW ALONG HERE - Download Powerpoint

We get so nervous about being able to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others that we psych ourselves out sometimes, but look at Peter’s simple presentation of what happened concerning the life of Jesus Christ. It didn’t require any PowerPoint or celebrity endorsements. Just the truth. Then, observe how God moved in the people’s lives. Peter didn’t cause the Holy Spirit to be poured out, that was all God! Our job is to obediently go where God calls us, show God’s love to the people we meet, and share the message of Jesus Christ with them through both words and actions. It really is that simple, but it all starts with obedience.

Engage the Text

1. Why did Peter share the gospel with these people?

2. What does Peter mean in verses 34-35? Is Peter saying that if we live a good life apart from Jesus we are saved?

3. While Peter was speaking, the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out on these Gentiles. Why is this significant?

4. Can you name gentiles who were saved by God in the Old Testament?

5. Is speaking in tongues a pre-requisite for salvation? Must everyone speak in tongues?

6. Write verse 43 in your own words.

From Thought to Action

1. Although God shows no partiality, we can show partiality quite often. In what ways do we do this? Why do we do this? Do we believe we are better than anyone else? How is this contrary to the gospel?

2. Baptism is an important step of obedience to Christ and beautiful profession of your faith in Jesus. Have you been baptized as a believer in Jesus? If not, why not?

3. What most often keeps you from being used by God? For example a specific sin or commonly recurring bad attitude. What is the real root of this problem? What steps can you take to change this, and how can your CG help you?

Journey Through Values//Adam Sheffield

Stop reading this. No, seriously, stop reading and clear your mind. Ok you may begin reading again, but before going further see if you can give the five values that Journey Church preaches. If you’re not a member you don’t have to pass this test, although reading on will help inform you of what our five core values are and how they shape our ministry. And that helps all of us understand better why we do what we do. more...

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
