Dead Man Walking Part 2

This week Pastor Chris preaches about as all men die, the same all will be made alive (verse 22). God wants eventually to call and save everyone—but within the order He decrees (II Peter 3:9; I Timothy 2:4). Everyone who has ever lived and died will be resurrected—first Christ was resurrected...

Ahhh Freak Out (Part 2)

Series: Following Jesus in a Jacked Up Church

That which is attributed to faith in Hebrews 11 is often ascribed to the Spirit in the Old Testament. But the Spirit was promised in a special way in the Old Testament. He was never at that period the presence of God in the midst of the people, as He dwelt in the assembly...

Ahhh Freak Out

Series: Following Jesus in a Jacked Up Church

It is not only in His gifts that the presence of the Spirit of God is manifested. There are prophecies and miracles, men moved by the Holy Ghost, before the day of Pentecost. That which is attributed to faith in Hebrews 11 is often ascribed to the Spirit in the Old Testament. But the Spirit was promised in a special way in the Old Testament. He was never at that period the presence of God in the midst of the people, as He dwelt in the assembly.

Feet - "Stand On It"

Series: Following Jesus in a Jacked Up Church

Here is Paul's writing at its best on a subject that awakens everyone's interest, love. His presentation of love, however, is without sentimentality, devoid of sensuality, and free from sexuality. The world has poured a sensual meaning into the word love that centers on sex and the sex act. Another use of this word is to equate it with a degree of fondness for either an action or an object, as in 'I love to do it,' or, 'I love it.' By contrast, the love that Paul has in mind is divine in origin and transcends earthly meanings...It is expressed in the well-known verse, 'For God so loved the world...' (John 3:16)...This love is embodied in the Greek term agape which means either God's love for man or man's love for God" (p. 451). Love is always in season; it is the breath of the church; it is the life's blood of evangelism; it is one of the attributes of God.

Hands - "Show It"

Series: Following Jesus in a Jacked Up Church

Do not fall in with the customs of those who walk in the lusts of the flesh, and mind earthly things. The work of the Holy Ghost first begins in the understanding, and is carried on to the will, affections, and conversation, till there is a change of the whole man into the likeness of God, in knowledge, righteousness, and true holiness. Thus, to be godly, is to give up ourselves to God.

Stop Impressing. Be impressed.

Journey Through Values: Truth//Adam Sheffield

Truth seems like an obvious value, an age-old archetype that any religious organization would have, but imagine if a religion promoted itself by saying “Falsehoods and lies are what we value!” Four words for that: Re-donk-u-lus! But beyond that obvious shot in the foot, why is it that we would value truth? more...
